After passing a state survey Wesley Homes Hospice obtained its state license for In Home Services on December 20, 2016.
Community Health Services Executive Director Melinda Moore and Hospice Director Linda Herman have worked tirelessly to get Wesley Homes Hospice up and running. They have completed a lengthy process whereby Washington State has approved of Wesley Homes’ documents, policies and procedures to practice hospice care.
“We’ve had great support from residents and staff, and we’re honored to support families during their loved one’s end of life journey,” said Linda.
Wesley Homes Hospice will not only provide transitional care for individuals but also for families. The service will provide families with education on their rights and responsibilities in regards to their loved ones so that they can feel rest assured and make the right choices.
“We’re here to give families comfort and peace of mind. Our job is to empower families with choice and understanding so they never have to wonder ‘how we can best help Mom or Dad,” said Linda.
The Hospice program is designed to keep people safe and comfortable. With a skilled interdisciplinary team, Wesley Homes Hospice is able to assist families whether they need spiritual support, nurses or certified nursing assistants.
“We have formed a strong and highly trained interdisciplinary team with Hospice Medical Director Dr. Jude Verzosa, who brings exceptional compassion and expertise managing palliative care and end of life situations,” said Melinda.
The members of the Hospice team include:
- Linda Herman, RN, Director of Clinical Services
- Caroline Pedersen, MSW
- Lisa Smargiassi, RN
- Barbara Gilbreath, Chaplain
- Samantha Olson, Hospice Aide
- Dr. Jude Verzosa, Medical Director
With a highly trained and capable team, they are able to admit their first private pay patients while they work to acquire Medicare certification, the next step in a two-part process of forming Wesley Homes Hospice.
Good to know this. while neither Richard nor I need these services at this time, it is reassuring to know you are close by if needed, and particularly since you are affliated with Wesley Homes.
Thanks for your comment Donna! I know a lot of folks have met Linda but from my personal interactions with her and the team I can tell you they are a very compassionate and talented group of individuals! I’m happy to have them here to offer their talents for such an important program at Wesley Homes.
