Honor Earth Day on April 22nd

America produces 50 million tons of e-waste every year according to the Earth Day Network, an international nonprofit. E-waste is any discarded electronic devices such as cell phones, TVs, computers, coffeemakers, refrigerators and vacuums. Most of these machines are buried or incinerated, which can cause toxins, such as lead, mercury and cadmium, to leach into the soil and enter the atmosphere. In honor of Earth Day, get rid of your gadgets the green way. Go to e-stewards.org and select your state to find the nearest e-waste recycling facility.* You can also celebrate Earth Day by measuring how green you are.
