Take the TourChoose 24-hour skilled nursing care and therapies in a comfortable and friendly environment. Our experienced rehabilitation team individualizes your care with programs to reach your specific goals for increased independence and ability. Patient families are also encouraged to participate in therapy sessions, caregiver education and training.
Wesley Des Moines offers you the option of specialized nonsurgical, medication-free therapy, including the use of virtual reality technology, for conditions ranging from arthritis pain and recovery from a fall, to joint replacement rehabilitation and complications from a stroke. Omni Virtual Rehab Therapy is a system of activities that make exercise more fun and interesting. When using virtual rehabilitation, a therapist monitors you through special skilled-therapy exercises and activities in a 3D computer generated “interactive” environment. Virtual reality and other therapy approaches help manage pain, re-educate muscles and increase circulation for improved healing after an injury.
You may find you need help regaining your ability to handle daily tasks. Therapy can help you adapt and master tasks essential for your living environment and lifestyle. Our occupational therapists can guide you with task-directed activities to work on regaining function and independence following impairment from an illness, injury or normal aging. Therapy may be helpful if you have debilitating arthritis, impaired vision, hearing loss or other condition that interferes with bathing, dressing and other daily-living activities.
Our speech therapists can provide you with a range of services depending on your need, such as improved communication and safe swallowing. These services include assessment, education and treatment for language, voice, articulation and fluency disorders. We assist in rehabilitating patients who struggle with comprehension, processing and expression abilities. We instruct caregivers in techniques ranging from head positioning, to promoting safe swallowing at a slower rate, to clearer speech. We also teach patients how to compensate if they cannot be rehabilitated to their prior level of performance.
