Celebrating Our Champions

GiveBig_Pegsmall“The residents are awesome and create a ray of sunshine!” Peg Ogilvie smiles as she describes why she enjoys the 10 years she has spent as a Housekeeper on the campus of Wesley Homes Des Moines. Peg elaborates further as she describes her co-workers from various departments who come together as a team to get the job done – to provide excellent customer service to our community.

Volunteering is something she grew up with and is second nature to how she lives her life.  Peg was raised in Des Moines and was taught if a need exists and it is within your expertise then you volunteer to do it.  This is a core value for her.

From 2000 – 2003 Peg served on the Board of Directors for Odd Fellows Home, a senior living community, in Walla Walla, WA – a volunteer position that required she travel a significant distance.  This position, she says, “allowed me to understand what is expected of both the executive staff and the worker bees.”

This perspective serves her well as she advocates for both the residents and staff of Wesley Homes.  A dedicated contributor to the Employee Emergency Fund, Peg understands firsthand, what it is like to be on the receiving end of generosity. This is one reason she has chosen to pay it forward.  Peg is a Wesley Homes Champion and deserves to be celebrated!

As we approach Tuesday may 5th the day of the fifth annual GiveBig Event hosted by The Seattle Foundation please consider making a gift in celebration of our Champions!
