Wesley is a mission driven not-for-profit organization affiliated with the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church.
History
Wesley (originally Wesley Gardens) was established in 1944 from the dreams of Dr. Stanley Logan and the community of Methodists around him who found need for an alternate, communal way of living for older adults. His belief in building this community around a common faith of care and dignified support guides us still in all we do.
A Network of Services
Well known for its Des Moines community, Wesley has been home to generations of Northwest families. Today, Wesley has communities in Des Moines, Auburn and Puyallup and provides home health services for residents across King and Pierce counties.
Wesley’s vision is to build a network of services providing a continuum of care for older adults. This network offers a comprehensive array of services so that residents, clients and their families receive the care they need without having to leave their community.
Executive Team
Wesley's executive team brings to life the direction and intent of the boards. Their knowledge of our mission focus coupled with the boards' strategic plan, and knowledge of those we serve and will be serving - including residents, staff and each other - is critical in securing the success of our business operations. The executive team keeps in mind at all times the faith-based promise that we make to our communities to serve and to give back.
Governing Boards
Our boards work in unison to guide Wesley in defining the direction of the organization through strategic goals and fiduciary oversight, and to ensure that the business is operating according to our mission.
Wesley is governed by a Board of Trustees made up of volunteer community and business leaders elected annually by corporate members from churches in the Pacific Northwest Conference of the United Methodist Church. The Board of Trustees elects members to The Wesley Community Foundation Board of Directors and The Wesley Community Health Services Board of Directors.
These boards define the direction of the organization through a scenario plan based on a set of living strategic goals and annual initiatives. Members of the Board of Trustees are elected each year at the Wesley annual meeting in May by members of the corporation. Each member of the board is elected for a three-year term and may serve up to three consecutive terms.

Mr. Harmon’s expertise with the Schuchart Corporation includes projects such as commercial, new student housing and multi-family housing. He is active with the Fairwood United Methodist Church.

Jeani Rottle / Secretary
Jeani retired in 2003 after 35 years in elementary, public education here in our area. She has also served in other leadership and consulting positions related to education and has served the community through membership on the Auburn Food Bank Board and Advisory Board, the Auburn Human Services Board, and now serves on the Wesley Homes Lea Hill Campaign Advisory Board. Jeani’s expertise in public speaking has gained her notoriety and as have her books related to Elementary Education.

Ross Deckman
Mr. Deckman is an architect who owns his own business in Puyallup. Mr. Deckman and his family live in the Bonney Lake area and are members of the Bonney Lake United Methodist Church.

Jerry Flagel
Jerry Flagel had a long career with Boeing in computer networks and technology. Jerry is a life-long United Methodist and has served on the Pacific Northwest Conference Board of Pensions, serving eight years as its Chair. He serves as a Trustee of the Fairwood United Methodist Church and is currently chairing the Stewardship Committee at his church. Jerry is from the Renton area.

Ed has built a career in Human Resources management; most recently as the Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Weyerhaeuser.

Steve Storms / Past Chair
Steve is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He holds a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering and enjoyed a long career with the Weyerhaeuser Company. Steve participates and has held leadership positions with the Browns Point United Methodist Church, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers – Seattle Chapter, the Society of Competitive Intelligence – national Ethics Director, and the Conference Board of the Council of Competitive Analysis.

Jack Wimpress
Jack is not new to Wesley Homes and the work of the Trustees. He served as the President of the Board of Trustees in 1979. Jack served the US Navy and graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He received a master’s degree from Cal Tech in 1948. Jack enjoyed a very long career with the Boeing Company, offering leadership in Research and Development, the Military Division, and the Commercial Sales Division. He is active in the United Methodist Church, the Wesley Homes Quality First Continuous Quality Improvement Committee, and docents and lectures at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. Wesley Homes is fortunate that Jack is also a resident in one of our Terrace Cottages.

Quality First is the national quality improvement initiative within the aging services field. It is a philosophy of quality and a framework for earning the public’s trust in our field.
LeadingAge Quality First is the way in which LeadingAge and its members accept responsibility for assuring that the people they serve receive quality care and services. Quality First makes providers directly accountable for excellence and distinguishes LeadingAge members as not-for-profit aging-services providers.
